A bit further but a lovely site now. chateau Martragny near Bayeux. Better when you can use ACSI and bring the price down. All the D day beaches easily reachable..
We stayed overnight at Chateau camping Le Colombier last year. A lovely site, warm swimming pool, take away, shop, there was even a violin concert in the grounds the night we were there. Very civilised with good sized pitches.
We try to stay at La ferme des aulmes. Very near to Baie de Somme but less in your face.
Stayed once in Le Crotoy Le Ridin which we would definitely not reccommend.
Apart from the local mussels, you must try the samfire, very cheap and delicious.
Berriow - are these camping cheques a camping club thing...we have never seen them or considered their use. Just wondering are we missing a trick ?

Camping Cheques are a French outfit that has agents such as the Caravan Club and Alan Rogers.
For €16 per night, you get pitch,unit,2 people, ehu and showers.
They used to be some guarantee of a standard, but with pressure from ACSI the involved sites can now vary.
However with the use of discounts ( 3 nights for 2 cheques, 7 for 6 etc ) and acquiring unwanted cheques off the internet, it is possible to get the night's rate down to around £7.50
We also stayed at Camping La Ferme des Aulnes last year . This is a lovely little campsite and only about half an hour from Calais. It has a lovely covered heated swimming pool.
We would definately use this campsite again for either a short break or stopover. Highly recommended.
We have stayed at the Chateau de Gandspette, Eperleque, this is only 1/2 hour from Calais too....excellent facilities but is is definately a stop over place rather than a 2 week destination.
