I've just booked - using the discount count - car only and got a return crossing for £72.00. This is cheaper than DFDS for the dates we want.

I`ve just used the code for a quote for June 2015, and though the code worked it is a heck of a lot more expensive than last year.

We have already booked for July DFDS £134 Return Dover-Dunkerque Car+RoofBox+Trailer.
But had to look at the P&O offer using the DOVER20 Code, and it came to £172 Phew, looks like I backed the right horse!

The offers are all for cars at the moment to fill car decks. Caravans travel on truck deck & due to better economy causing increasing truck traffic there is no problem filling ferries with trucks.

I'm glad we're going solo again - it's definitely paying off storing our caravan in France with the higher cost of ferries these days and the lower cost of fuel over there, too of course.

We use our van in UK so not on initial look a great options for us But if we were to go to similar area of France say for a few years it could actually make sense for us to consider a second van to leave out there and use
With reduced tolls and crossing costs and reduced times of travel if we stored close to our favourite location for instance, it could actually cover the additional costs of servicing, insurance etc
Hmm time to do some planning maybe!

That's just what we do. We have our Adria here and the other caravan in France. The French insurance is now cheaper than we pay for the Adria - and our storage is just 250 euros a year which is about half what we were paying in England. We store inside in a dry barn and a British 'registered' Caravan Engineer does our servicing when required.

Thanks Val - may have to seriously cost this up - might have to look see again if we could find slightly smaller van over here to store on drive to save the £500 pa storage which could seriously fund this

What a c..k-up! Despite having received a booking confirmation for the crossing I booked (mentioned above), just this morning I received an email saying 'There is an error with this booking. We can't send you a confirmation email'.
I rang the contact number given, to be told that the booking had been cancelled!!! The lady answering the phone looked into this and said no payment had been made for the crossing under the original reference number. She tried to add payment details but their system wouldn't accept this. She then tried another booking which was more expensive and included a £5 telephone booking fee. I said I wasn't happy with this, so she suggested I did it again on line whilst she checked what was happening on their system.
I did, and everything went through OK, my card payment went through the ClickSafe process and I got another booking reference, but when she looked at it again it too had been cancelled - instantly and a few minutes later (whilst still on the phone) I received another 'Error' email.
I checked my bank and no payments haven't been taken from my account, and eventually the only way to book was to accept the telephone booking - but she did agree to waive the £5 fee - though the crossing cost me £3.20 more than the original £72.00.
I'm not a happy bunny now! I've just spend 48 minutes on the phone. Our P and O 'Account' isn't showing any details of the supposed new booking, and I still haven't received a confirmation email!
I suggest anyone else booking check their emails are confirmations and not error messages and that their booking has actually been accepted!
Updated more than an hour later - still no confirmation email, nothing appearing in 'My Account' on P and O................! I have a horrible feeling we'll turn up tomorrow to 'No booking............'!

Snap with Val,for many years now we have kept an old van here (the Carlight) and a newish one in France, the Lunar, as we usually have two long French hols per year (early and late summer when prices with ACSI are cheap and sites quiet).
We still can have days or weeks away when at home which is best of both worlds for us. Similar 'van Engineer arrangement as Val when required.
Travelling from Aberdeen is a breeze with Travelodge in the Midlands and B & B hotel Rouén rather than a Marathon drive. Tesco points tunnel crossing is cheap as chips and quick.
Better exchange rate and fuel prices working for us too at the moment. Roll on May!
