have the luxury of a week to get from les sablons to north france near arras and fancy a 4 night stop at one of the two sites mentioned, any advice welcome, next dilema to be 3 nights en route north maybe lac d orient will be last but need two inbetween ?
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Not been to Cascades, but had les Ranchisses as the base of our main holiday in 2009. Can thoroughly recommend, especially the "Wellness" pool.

We went to les Ranchisses 2 years ago and would echo what others have said. Although not on the Ardeche it is in easy reach of all main areas you might want to visit and the cascades are also within easy reach.
Hi Steve
We used Croix d'Arles as a stopover last year; nothing special I'm afraid. The first time we stayed their pet pot-bellied pig wandered through the snack bar, but nothing as exciting happened last time. Fine as a place to put the steadies down for a night; haven't visited the town.
Have a look at Chateau l'Eperviere, Link or one of the other sites around Beaune; particularly if you fancy a little wine tasting. L'Eperviere is popular, and you might need to book.
Another that's a bit different is at Auxonne; a municipal with the town swimming pool next door. On the right day you can watch the powerboats on the river; the site restaurant seems to pick up local trade too.
It's lovely to have the time to visit some places on the way back - eases the pain of ending the holiday!
