Dont get me going on ferry prices....try £680 Hull -Zeebrugge return. When it hits £1,000 we'll just stop going.

Bob. If we still lived where you do we would also be very reluctant to pay big money to go to Belgium!
Although understand Yorkshire also now got plenty of cyclists since 'Le Tour' if not the chocolate!

I`ve just booked P&O Dover/Calais return using their `Ferry Fortnight` promotion. Going out late June on a Sunday morning (07.35), back 2 weeks later at 16.05, 2 of us, our dog, in our MH.
The total cost was £100.80 which I thought was good, last year at the same time I paid £120 but got a £20 voucher for the restaurant thrown in, so no change really.
Like previous posters I can remember in the 70`s and 80`s paying £200/£300 for a return for a car and passengers in the summer.

Iggy camper, and everyone else.....

I take it all back, the quote Iwas given as incorrect !!

We resorted to telephoning through the booking on Saturday. P&O have a new booking format..it is really poor..even now we can't book the meals.

Anyway, the crossing actually came to £526, we took advantage of the saver ticket option. This is minus the meals which will be another £60 I imagine. In fact the crossingt is marginally cheaper than last year.

We don't stay in Belgium, hell no...we bomb is to Lille, then we feellike we are on holiday. We actually make a point of calling in at the HUGE Decathlon just outside Zeebrugge. (Park Shopping Center, Blankenbergse Steenweg 420, 8000 Brugge). You can actually see the massive Decathlon sign from the motorway. We stock up on  their Domyos T shirts, so cheap, good quality and always on offer.

We're going over through the tunnel but we found the Camping & Caravanning Club was cheaper. We got return travel and insurance for us and the dog for under £400. I think the fare itself with the CC was nearly that much.

Nora

We booked our Tunnel Crossing for April through the Caravan Club and paid £219. 52.   This has only risen about £10 over the last 4/5 years.. I think you will find the rise in Ferry Fares is to do with legislation on the Fuel they use which is costing them more.
