We're planning a couple of weeks camping in the Messanges-Hossegor area this summer but are struggling to find a site that appeals to us.
We don't particularly want anything big and brash, we prefer a smaller, peaceful site and aren't bothered if it doesn't have a pool or bar etc etc. We also don't mind if it's a 4-5 mile drive from the coast. Any suggestions would be more than welcome.
Thanks,
Pete.

Hi, sorry can't really help but can advise that we went to visit family and managed to get on site in outskirts of Hossegor. Def not to be recommended, mind you we are older. It was rammed with surfing youngsters which is great if you are young!!!

We love Camping La Cote in Messanges. Review on here.
Quiet, no bar or restaurant, nice pool.
Easy access by bike (or car I guess) to coast, villages etc etc.
Going back for the third time this summer.
Azu Rivage on Lake Souston is near Messange. We have stayed there several times. It was a municipal but I think is now privately owned. It is nice and peaceful. There are other sites on Souston too, but a bit more commercial.
I can also recommend Camping les Acacias. It's very quiet, with clean facilities and friendly owners. It's in the ACSI book and is just 12 euros out of high season. The site is right next to a lovely smooth cycle path that you can use to get to neighbouring towns and villages and is only about a 15 minute cycle ride to the beaches.
