Planning a trip south around 10th June, any wonderin what the weather would be like. I'm hoping it will be pool/ beach weather.
We have been before to the same place around end august and the weather couldn't have been any better, blue sky a very hot everyday.
Has anyone got any experience of camping down south around this time of year

I have been in that area late May, the sea wasnt particularly warm but it was good enough for me. We were outside the whole time, the weather was gorgeous and the pool was a necessity.
Good luck, but it is like anywhere, it is always a gamble!
Can be blowing a gale, thunderstorm, baking heat, torrential rain and beautiful balmy evening and that's jut one day. Been there at that time for the last ten years and its wonderful. 2010 was exceptional. Could post the pictures of the torrent through our tent and the one a couple of pitches away in 12 inches of water but might put you off. Equally so I can post pictures of days of wall to wall sunshine and temperatures of 30 degrees as it was last year.

From years and years of experience, it does seem to me that French weather has become more unsettled recently. As Latecamper says, you can have all kinds of weather in a single day, or you can be sitting in brilliant sunshine, as it's been all day, but watching the black cloud down the coast. Later you may discover that whilst you had uninterrupted sun, the people under that cloud were being evacuated from campsites in boats.
Generally at that time of year you would expect heat and sun in Provence, but there have been terrific floods in many parts of the Var such as those in June 2010 which SGT refers to. Those resulted in major evacuations of several campsites alongside the Argens river and a number of deaths in the area.
Perhaps one lesson to be learned from this, is not to pick riverside campsites. Unfortunately we never learn but are always vigilant in trying to move elsewhere if rain and storms are forecast!!!
Yep, I have always put of going in June, despite the temptation of using the ACSI card, so we always go for the middle two weeks of July.
Maybe we have been lucky, but since I first started going to the Cote d Azur back in 1962, the weather has always been superb, and for some maybe to hot at around +40Deg C.
We were at Roquebrune-Sur-Argens close to Frejus last July, and the weather was superb as usual.
June can be fine That is for sure, but there will always be more risk of inclement weather than say July, that's just a given.
I guess all you need is luck!

As well is two words!

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
2010 was a pretty bad at that time of year in most of France. We were in the Dordogne and the rivers were so high canoeing was impossible on the Dordogne and Vezere. Somewhat exceptional I think. Last June was very hot but as others say it is France and can vary from year to year.
We have been twice to Frejus at that time of year and had lovely weather. I would think you would be unlucky not to get decent weather at that time of year.

Forgot to mention in my last post that if you are in the St Tropez area in June keep an eye out for the omelette festival at St Aygulf which I think is held every June and is on the coast road from St Tropez to Frejus.
Very interesting and a free meal to boot. The French really go to town on their festivals. Took these shots a couple of years ago when we were there and the weather was beautiful.
