At present I use a 4.5kg Butane bottle for cooking etc . Are there preferred bottles used in france i.e. Camping Gaz, will I have any problems exchanging my Butane bottle should I run out whilst camping in France.

Hi Mike,

If you use Camping Gaz in the UK, you'll have NO problem getting it in France, as it's a French company anyway. Sold at supermarkets, garages, some shops etc. Most campsites will either stock it, or tell you where to get it locally?

You will not be able to exchange a UK butane cylinder in France ( e.g. Calor Gas ) so you must get a Camping Gaz cylinder, they are exchangable in most European countries.

I bought a French gas bottle and it came with a free regulator (£10 for 6kgs) - much cheaper than Camping Gaz.
