Just wondered if anybody has been to "Camping Le Martinet" near Geneva or "Camping Les Portes de Sancerre" in the Loire Valley. Both campsites are ran by a company called Flowercamping. Can't find any reviews. First time camping abroad with our children so would be useful if anybody has been to hear about what they are like. Website looks fab which is reason why we are thinking of going but always good to know from a customer's point of view... many thanks.

Flowers Camping is a 'marketing' organisation which offers similar types of campsite - middle size, middle range, usually in lovely areas. They don't actually own or manage any sites. I don't know the sites you mention, but perhaps someone else will. There is a Dutch website called Zoover, which does reivew a site called Le Martinet at St Claude, in the Jura - which I presume is the one you mean. It scores 8.4 out of 10.

Both sites get decent reviews (in Dutch) at http://www.camping-frankrijk.nl/

Le Martinet gets 9 for general impression and 8.5 for washroom quality. Les Portes de Sancerre gets 8 for both categories.

The only comment of note was that pitches in the upper part of Le Martinet were not all flat & the lower ones suffered with moisture. As that was a September review the moisture might not be all that relevant. As a tent camper, I know a flat pitch is!

All the Flower camping sites we've looked at look great, we just haven't quite booked one yet if you see what I mean.

Helen, the two sites are in very different locations, with different scenery, different activities round about, and different things to see and do. I would choose the location you want rather than just choosing a campsite.

One area would have appealed to our children more than the other, but perhaps that depends on the age of your children.

Have a great holiday.

We stayed at three Flowers campsites last summer - all in different parts of France and all very different campsites! This is because they are a franchise organisation rather than say if you booked with Campeole you know that all the toilets will look the same on every site! They were all good sites, though, and would book at a Flowers site again. In fact, we are heading for the Jura ourselves this year and will probably stay at Le Martinet!

Helen, just looking at where you have been before and what you give as your main interest , it' s going to be the site in the Jura - with forest walks, stony streams and waterfalls. And next year the Alps.

Sancerre in the Loire valley is for old people !

We have camped at a Flowers site, some years ago ... a good experience and would recommend ... they have quality inspectors to ensure all the 'brand' conform to their requirements.

I agree with Kelper. THe sites tend to be medium to small in size but often family oriented.
We`have stayed at several and have never been disappointed.

We have stayed at a couple of Flower Camping sites and found them perfectly OK. Several of them are in the ACSI discount scheme if going out of season.

I've stayed at several too, for the ACSI discount. One of them was a bit poor, out of season, not been mentioned here though. The others were fine.

There are reviews of the Sancerre site, mine included. We liked it. There were folk there, and in the area, of all ages. I wouldn't want my main holiday there though, not enough to see and do, unless you are into vineyards.

Anne

I notice that the one we went to in Anduze (Castel Rose), is no longer a Flower Camping .... so I can't comment!

We went to the Jura campsite. Absolutely brilliant. Swimming pool at the end of the site which we could use free of charge. Lovely town to walk around. Scenery breathtaking. Clean, friendly site. Thank you for the reviews, very helpful. Helen

Good to hear back from you Helen. It's nice when posters come back to say how they went on after the advice given.

Thanks again!
