We are hiring an RV to go from Seattle to San Francisco in August - two adults and children of 14 & 11.
We're experienced caravanners in the UK and have taken the 'van to France, Benelux etc.
We'd like some advice on good parks to visit, with a preference for smaller ones if at all poss. Our first night is in Aberdeen WA and we'd then like to go somewhere nr Astoria OR (Fort Stevens state park is full), followed by Portland and then on down to California.
If anyone has any ideas, hints and tips that would be great.
Thanks
David & Philippa
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
And there was me imagining you going to go past Bordeaux!! What an adventure, not sure many folk on here have done it. Good luck, and hopefully we will get a report when you get back.
We've done it in reverse - San Francisco to Seattle & it was a wonderful trip. We didn't do it in an RV though, we just camped in wood cabins on KAO campsites.
We stuck to the coast all the way up except to stay in the Columbia River Gorge & visiting Mt St Helens. I would say that they are the 'must sees' on the trip. Other than that we just wandered up the coast stopping at KAO campsites along the way. We didn't book anywhere & only had one 'interesting' experience where we pulled into a site & pulled straight out again as the other residents looked scary!!
