We are looking to visit France next year in July (this years hols already booked). We have car, roofbox, 2 adults, 2 kids (1 and 11). Our plan so far is Glasgow to Dover, overnight, ferry in morning to Calais, head to Les Etangs Flueris for 5 nights for Disney and day trip to Paris (visited Disney winter before but want to return in summer). Afterwards looking for suggestions. We have 3 weeks holidays.

I guess everybody will just suggest their favourite area, but distance is to be considered if you only have a fortnight left. If you want to go to the coast then north coast is nearest, Normandy is nice enough, you have to risk UK weather but an easy drive back to Calais at the end.

Otherwise for some warmer weather, south west coast nr Bordeaux is doable as is popular inland holiday area or for hotter weather you could head down to or near the Med coast. All that is another 350-450miles further south.

Or you could do Alps or Pyrenees. All areas have their fans & their merits so really you need to pick an area then ask for recommendations within that area.

Gosh ... that long at Disney ... one day was enough for us.

However ... I'd choose three or four possible areas, then select two or three possible sites in each ... don't book ahead ... then wait till you are at Disney ... check seven day weather forecasts and decide where the best weather is ... that way you have a chance of beating the variable summer weather patterens we've been experiencing recently.

Thanks we are annual pass holders so won't cost a lot intend to do 3 days park 1 day paris. We are sun lovers and normally go 3 weeks costa del sol so would hope for some sun. 400 miles is ok we are used to driving to London. Would we not need to book ahead for high season also how far ahead cn you book the ferry?

Ok, how about Les Tournels as a site? We're going there for the first time this summer. Sites like this do get fully booked in high season, so my preference is to book rather than not.

We usually book our ferry in Jan/Feb for the summer holiday.

Would you consider coming back, at least, via the Zeebrugge-Hull sail? Yes, it's expensive but would save you 200 miles of UK drive at the end of your hol, plus acts as an overnight rest too?

TT

Best to see how much money you have left after 5 days at disney then decide where you go on to. £35 quid for 2 cheese burger meals and 2 kids meals and not even that nice. Only did that once.

3 weeks is what we take for our annual July trip to France, Personally I would give ED a swerve, and do that as a seperate thing, using Flights etc.

You say you like the Sun, so for us that would be straight down to the Cote d Azur, the Ardeche would be another contender, done that a few times and is a slightly shorter drive, then spend a fortnight there on the one campsite.

As ever each to there own, we once took our Son to ED when he was 10, as I had won a Prize for a 3 day family break (Hotel+Car Ferry) which included ED, it was August and the weather was shocking.

Have a good holiday at Le Pin, Lockie, we're a few miles up the road in Apremont. It really is a beautiful area!

To be sure of the sun ... leave it til the last minute .... look at seven day forecast when you are at Disney ... then decide where to go (having preplanned a few options) .... we never book ahead (well ... once in twenty years) .... so many sites in France, if one does happen to be full, there's always another within a couple of miles.
I'd hate to pre-book and find it was a rainy week ... and the past few summers have had some pretty unusual weather patterns.

After Disney head south to the Cote-d-Azur, around Antibes is a good area on the coast Train service to Italy or back to Cannes, plenty of camp sites of various quality Big fun fare and marine land just east of Antibes by Biot station, day out to Nice or Monaco by train or car plenty to do in the area.

Euro Disney is a bit of a Mickey Mouse place.

With a 1 year old you may not want to do all the driving to get to the Med.
The southern Vendee or into Charente are reputedly as sunny as the South of France. Places like the Ile de Re or the Ile d'Oleron would perhaps be of use.
