The ATMB tag is the cheapest deal available ... but they all do the same job.
They do save time ... especially as the 30kph lanes grow in number, you can drive through without stopping at all.
And when there are queues, then you really do save a lot of time, and fuel.
We started with Sanef, but switched last year.
We've now had a 'tag' for five years ... wouldn't go without one!
And we do use toll free motorways, old N routes and other roads, frequently. But if you just want to get there (or back) in as short a time as possible, then the fast, boring motorways are still the best answer.

I've only just noticed the max 3500kgs. How do they police it? I've driven through France two years on the trot with a train weight of 4200kgs and never had an issue with my tag.
Is it just kick or have they some way of checking?

It's gvw of tow vehicle under 3.5t for class2 so you are ok. Class4 is over 3.5t gvw &/or over 3mtres high.

We've just done 1500 miles around France with no tolls apart from one on the last day. Our combination is over 3500kg. We accidentally ended up on a toll road, no change to hand. No queues either, just pulled out the first card that came to hand, which happened to be my Natwest debit card...shoved it into the machine, took about 5 seconds. The charge was a whole 90cents, and it's gone through as £1.66 from my account. Can't complain😄
Yes, if you pay a toll with card then it needs to be a fee free credit card or you pay through the nose, particularly on small tolls as mentioned. Natwest debit card is one of the worst for abroad card charges.

Tbh it didn't bother me. We'd done 14 nights toll free so I'm not complaining about £1.66. The £90+ we saved by avoiding tolls in the first place more than makes up for it.
Yep cost us £132 to get to Frejus and back (£66 each way) from Dunkerque in July, we use the APRR Tag, and have just settled the bill for my Halifax Clarity MasterCard Credit Card, no interest or € conversion charges, just the interbank rate of 1.41€ to the £.
