Can anyone tell me if I need to book sites? In this part of Brittany? And recommend where I can look for some budget ones to use occasionally? I will also be heading towards VANNES later
I'm in the caravan club and am considering Acsi and France passion membership , and I've got all the aires , any more input would be good, though I don't like booking if possible so I can go where I want on a whim. I will be there for Bastille day too obviously .
I have been to France in July before but never August
What are your various views on booking or non booking ? Confused and can't decide

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
ACSI membership will be of little or no use to you in July and August - it is an off peak discount scheme. By the weekend of July 11th the seaside sites and the sea front Aires will be filling up as it's a very popular holiday area.
However there will be room without booking all through the summer at the smaller, less well known campsites some way inland from the sea - many of them municipal sites and Aires - in the smaller towns and villages away from the coastal strip.
Bastille Day 14 July, there may well be sites still offering ACSI rates. Generally I would say you don't need to book, and for the Granite coast you could try Port l'Epine which is a decent site, not likely to be full 14 July, but if it were to be so, there is a Municipal next door which is basic, but OK, and you won't get better beach views anywhere. The granite rose is very attractive, but it is an area where sites may be more difficult to find "just touring", and i would suggest at least having a few options in mind before you go. Around Perros Guirec is handy too.

Thanks berriow. I'm thinking of spending that period on a prebooked campsite I know then, and after that go to municipals., or aires that are suitable .
Does anyone think id be best to go to the pink granite coast the rest of July then VANNES August or the other way round?

Thanks frogman. Is it possible to view where the Acsi sites are before joining to see the start of the high season for individual sites?
I have been recommended Perros guirec so I will be heading there and I'll take a look at info about port l'epine
Not sure about ACSI details, but you could try Eurocampings web site, they are connected with ACSI. Best bet is to persuade a friend to pass on their "last years guide books" you get new ones every year with the card.
