I have stored a caravan in Croatia since 2011. It is a 1991 model, was bought second-hand, and is not worth a lot. The Croatian Customs have just contacted me via my storage depot to tell me that I have until the 30th June to contact them to "regularise my position". I tried to email them with no success. I am now here in Croatia and am thinking of going to see them. Has anybody any tips on how I should approach this. I only have a handwritten Bill of sale from the previous owner.

Personally speaking id export it back out and into Italy if you can I believe you need a homologised (not sure of spelling) certificate for a vehicle in Croatia ..there are agents that can do it but it may cost a fair bit in terms of value of caravan currently.

UK caravans are not registered with DVLA as vehicles. In other European countries they are. This is probably easy to sort out if you know the local lingo.
It may or may not be possible to register caravan locally. If certificate of compliance is required then possibly not possible to register it and caravan will have to leave country. It depends on local laws. If you can convince them UK caravans are not officially registered in UK you may be ok.
Been to local customs today in Pula. Referred to an office across the street, above a cafe! He looked at my depot receipts, my car log book, my handwritten bill of sale and a certificate of compliance issued by Elddis dated 1991 (I found it in the caravan) wants fotos of the van with its registration plate (my car no) and a closeup of its serial number. That's it, 500 kuna (£45) for the paperwork, collect it tomorrow - Job Done (fingers still slightly crossed until tomorrow but looking good so far)

This may well be the homologised report for Customs its just what they decide to charge you. Ill keep my fingers crossed for you and await your next post on how you go on
