We're booked a crossing to Bilbao for this September. Ideally we'd like to stay in Northern Spain - perhaps near San Sebastian. Any recommendations? Has anyone stayed at Camping Igueldo in San Sebastian, or at Camping Portuondo in Mundaka?

Alternatively we could go into France perhaps near St Jean de Luz or Biarritz. Any recommendations?

We have stayed at Pavillon Royal at Bidart near Birritz which is a really super campsite.

We stopped in San Sebastian last year at Camping Igueldo. It's a hike out of town (ie, either car or bus) and the pitches we were on were tight. However, it's worth a couple of nights so you can spend a day in San Sebastian.

Our favourite is in the other direction past Santander to Camping El Rosal in San Vicente. Nice campsite, right on the beach and beautiful scenary. So nice we're going back this year.

*Just added a couple of photos of San Vicente to our gallery. Unfortunately you can't quite make out the pico mountains in the background which are stunning.
