In Holland ensure breakaway cable is not around towball, ie must be through separate ring on towbar, and towing mirrors need to be fully extended. Most caravan checks are on Fridays so Dutch caravanners tell me.

regarding the breakaway cable OP and Billy that's only if the tow car is Dutch registered. UK registered vehicles may travel under their own construction and use.

Correct. Now explain that to Dutch cop beside the road. He will still fine you and you can appeal of course. Hows your form filling in Dutch?
Having lived there for 3 years absolutely fine but thats not the point as the OP and other wont likely be as lucky to speak some Dutch.
The point is a Dutch cop wont do that to you as A they know the rules well and B its too much paperwork filling out for them. It is after all a none Dutch registered vehicle C They cannot issue an on the spot fine for that anyway.
