It's odd but despite years of wilderness camping I still cannot cope with hole in the ground toilets. In part this is due to problems with my back.
Does anyone have up to date information on the toilets at the Bayeux Municipal site which had mainly hole in the ground toilet facilities?. Not visiting until September so no rush for a reply. Thanks

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
I think many of us don't like what we call 'squatters' but despite this the newly opened Millau viaduct services on the autoroute have hole in the ground toilets.
I'm sure someone will have stayed at Bayeux recently and be able to help.
I've always called them 'Turkish' ....
What's the proper name?
Ah .... Wikipedia says Squat, Turkish or Indian.
is probably the face for all of them ...

Apart from the strain on ones back and knees, which is considerable, there is the way, when you stand up, it immediately flushes and soaks ones shoes. Gross. Am I doing something wrong? Or don't I move fast enough?
All really interesting stuff but I still don't know what the toilets are like at Bayeux. There is only one review on for this year and no mention is made of the toilets. Anyone?????
There's a review on here from September 2014 that mentions the toilets at great length. It seems to imply there's at least one Gents with a sit-down* and that you could pop in one of the Ladies cubicles at a pinch as they're not in a room. The website and flyer do not have a banner proudly announcing new sanitaires, so I would draw the conclusion the 2014 review is still current.

If you read the ACSI book there is a letter designation to denote these. Once you know what it is (I don't because I've never had the patience to read the damn book being an engineer!) - the wife DOES know what the letter denoting them is, then you'll be able to identify campsites which may have them and can choose to avoid them if that makes sense!
