We are due to travel at 7am on Saturday. We are assuming travel is as usual now but does anyone know otherwise? If the lorries are still stacking are diversions clearly signed? And finally how much extra time would we need to allow - it usually takes us between 1 - 1.5 hours to travel there from Surrey at that time of day. It would be good to hear from anyone who has done the journey in the last week or so.

It's probably easiest to check directly with Eurotunnel's own website, and perhaps with local news in Kent.

However, for anyone travelling with DFDS then there are still problems with sailings to Calais, which are not going to resume until 13th July. You will be rerouted to Dunkerque, but this is causing delays because of increased capacity on that route, and because of increased traffic through customs and check in controls.

As Val says, it's best to check on the day really. Things can change within an hour, as last week's, and this week's, events have shown.

We came back a week ago today: at that time Operation Stack was in force, and both sides of the M20 were closed. Yes, diversion signs were very much in evidence! We had to come off the M20, onto the A20, and it took us nearly 2 hours to travel 30 miles! It wasn't a pleasant journey.

But, if Operation Stack isn't in force then it will be much better of course.

We allowed 2 hours last week Thursday, as the ferries weren't running and we anticipated a lot of people trying to get on the tunnel, but in the event it was actually very quiet, and we got an earlier train by 1.25 hours! Which, needless to say, we lost in all that diversion But we were luckier than most, at least we got home on the day we'd booked, a lot of people were sitting it out on the campsite waiting to get a ferry.

We went through the tunnel last Friday morning when operation stack was in place. We came down the M20 until junction 8 where you have to come off. We then followed the A20 all the way down to junction 11 where we rejoined the M20 and then off again at junction 11a for the tunnel. Slower than normal obviously but moving all the time unlike London-bound traffic which was pretty much one long queue all the way. We had no tunnel delays and actually were put on an earlier shuttle than we had booked.

Coming back on Sunday operation stack had gone so everything was as normal and again no delays actually using the tunnel.

Seems we may have been lucky though so I'd give yourself plenty time each way

Ken

We are travelling on Sunday and had text message today that Dover Calais sailings cancelled and to go early in order to get ferry to Dunkerque. Also advised to use A2 and M2 as Op stack in operation. Great!!
Go to DFDS site and look for current info.
I know you are going tunnel but roads will be same.

For Dover use M2/A2 but for the tunnel use M20/A20
