Hi, we are due to travel to ouisterham on Thursday but have just seen that farmers have blockaded routes around the southern edge of the caen peripherique.
Has anyone ever driven through the middle (towing a caravan), or can recommend an alternative route. Try get to come up with a plan in case it's not clear by our arrival
Thank you
Jo

Live traffic on Caen ringroad looks OK again now so perhaps its finished for the time being.
If it returns any route through the town centre means you and everybody else will have to cross the ringroad at some point, which maybe the point it is blocked!!
Look on streetview at D514 onto D37 onto D41 to rejoin the route to LeMans, they look straighter and as wide as most roads in the south..

As far as I can make out the blockade closures are intermittent and unpredictable. .
Hopefully getting to France at night will mean less disruption!
The area I'm going to, they have been out all night too. Exactly 1 week to go. Hopefully operation escargot will be over by then.

I usually have my dog treated at the vets in France 3 or 4 days before our return home,in view of the disruption I thnk I will leave it till the day before in future!

I'm arriving in Dieppe on Sunday night: 11.30pm. I just hope that the inconvenience of arriving so late still makes up with the + of driving through the night, hassle free.
Perhaps next year we'll go to Santander & site our mobile near San Sebastian!
Try the coast road from Ouistreham to Courseilles sur Mer and then try cross country NOT using the Caen peripherique? Never done it with a caravan though....

yesterday (weds) in Challans, Vendee, the tractor blockades were mainly situated around supermarket entrances (but mot lidls?), hopefully its a one off and wont disrupt travel arrangements of those bringing money into their economy !!
my parents had a scary trip into Quimper yesterday with piles of burning rubbish blocking roundabouts and heavy delays on the N165 as a result. It seems quite widespread, and after just watching spotlight local bbc news our farmers are feeling like they may follow suit if they don't start getting fair prices from supermarkets
No signs of farmer activity from Caen through to Poitiers, farmers targeting the Leclerc distribution centres apparently at Ruffec we altered our journey slightly as we normally get off there.
Overall a most pleasing (due to lack of travelling issies) journey!
