Having 3 kids bumps up the costs, just wondering if anybody had any campsites that are priced more along the lines of a price per pitch rather than just 2 adults and add ons for each kids?

Don't mind where abroad, just interested for reference , thanks

I don't think there are many,(though someone may know differently) but there are ways of avoiding higher costs. If you go towards the last two weeks in August then pitches, and 'supplements' are always less. You can also use Camping Cheques (www.campngcheque.co.uk) or an ACSI Card (www.campingcard.co.uk) to bring down the total cost as the cheques or card covers the cost of the pitch, two adults, car and caravan, awning, and electricity. Then you just pay the child supplement on top. Some sites also do special offers such as 7 nights for 6, or 14 nights for 11, which can also bring down the cost.

If you can go during one of the other school holidays then you may save even more, and depending on the ages of your children, there are ACSI Card sites where three children under the age of six are included in the ACSI Card price.

Where are you planning? We've been using Camping Cheques since our children came with us, and have stayed on many of the 'best' sites. There are eighty-five sites which take Camping Cheques from the 19th August, so you could squeeze in two weeks before the children go back to school. You may pay from 2 to 6 euros per child per night, but it still makes the total cost around 30 euros instead of a lot more.

We never found anywhere, and even worse, most campsites charge full adult price beyond the age of about 7! In some places it can almost double the site fee, so needs to be factored into costs.

Just wondering, does ACSI only cover a certain amount of people also? I looked on the ACSI site last night but couldn't find any info on it. There was only going to be the two of us, but now the MIL is coming.... Oh the joy!

ACSI offer 613 sites where up to 3 kids up to the age of 6 are included free in the low season, but not the MIL, they are prohibited

Thanks all, yes I'm a big acsi users just back from 3 weeks in France and used it up until quite late on various Loire sites. Off again in a week or two for a month. Just wondered if anyone had ever had a good search to find any, I've found a few that included 3 in pitch price.

You will pay a supplement for your Mum in Law. If you need to know what that is in advance, you can have a look at the website of any sites you're interested in, and it will be shown under 'Extra Adult'. This will be on top of the price you pay for the pitch, etc., with ACSI.

ClaireMike21 - how old are your children? If they're under 6 then you can search the ACSI Card website for sites which don't charge any extra.

There are 64 sites which charge only 12 euros per night, and include three under sixes in that charge!   There are even two in the Loire - Seasonova Les Plages de Loire and Seasonova Camping Port Mulon. Both of these do fourteen nights for 11, so a family of five (if three children are under 6) can have a two week holiday for under £100.00 in site fees! Dates are right up to the 5th July, and again from the 22nd August, so just possible to squeeze in two weeks if the children don't go back to school until early September.

You can do the same search for 14 euros, 16 euros and 18 euros. Any of which will be very good value.

If you go last 2 weeks in August. You can use camping cheques at a lot of places. That's what I do and it saves a lot of money. I have 3 kids 15, 13 and 5.

Good luck

You will struggle to find a campsite that will offer a pitch price with more than 2 persons included. The discount card ACSI & camping cheques normally will not start until after the third complete week in August at the earliest. That is because the majority of city business close for these 3 weeks.
Coastal sites always cost more, but try a few miles inland as the prices are generally lower.
My wife and I owned & ran a campsite in France near Poitiers for 8 seasons.
Have a good holiday

There are actually quite a few campsites in France, which take Camping Cheques throughout the season. We will be staying on one from Monday evening, and even though we are paying with Camping Cheques they are happy to keep a pitch for us.

Messed up there !!

I had noticed that a few sites are taking camping cheques during the peak season, but the idea of these discount systems is to encourage campers in the quiet times.

We travel as a couple, so at all of those sites I would feel we were paying extra for an adult who wasn't there. Probably why I am struggling to think of anywhere we use!
You can find plenty of sites where you 'hire' a pitch, and can get as many units on as you can, like pup tents, but the site will then charge a supplement for each person.

We're planning on spending a few days at Chateau La Garenne in Normandy. Reviews look great, have been in email contact and it's €15 per night including EHU, water and disposal.
