Yes, we have just stayed there for a few nights at the beginning of July, during the recent heatwave. We really liked the site, choosing a shady pitch under the trees with a view of the Golfe du Morbihan. We used the small toilet block adjacent to the children's play equipment rather than the large central block, and it was little used and always clean. Pool was very nice, warm and with plenty of sun beds inside and out.
Vannes was lovely too. The free shuttle bus from outside the gate runs on time every 15 minutes, and drops you in the centre of Vannes( and back!) We used the free wifi at the tourist office in town, and got a walking guide from there too, with marked routes. Amazing town, well worth a look, and very photogenic!

That's sorted then, thank you. We're doing spontaneous, with a vague plan. First night Neufchâtel en Bray, then Ile d'Offard at Saumur for 3-4 nights, then maybe Angers, but might just "do" Angers from Saumur. Then 3-4 nights at Vannes. A girl who's just finished an internship at my work lives there, she said it's nice, and it does look very appealing. Then 3-4 nights at Chateau La Garenne at Aunay, then Neufchâtel, then back to the Tunnel. Of course, it's not set in stone and we may end up somewhere completely different in another direction, depending where the sunshine is.

Talking of the Tunnel, do I enter Calais for directions from the tunnel, or is it Coquelles? Thanks.

I've just come from the Saumur campsite and have been many times, and mine was the last review on Conleau. Both great sites , I'm sure you will enjoy.

I saw your review, and noticed you were a member on here, was hoping you'd spot this post. Nice to hear from someone who's been to both. I've just emailed the Saumur site for a price, and to ask whether we'll need to book. We'll be there on 28th August, probably/possibly.

Acsi comes back in at Saumur on 29th August, so cheap price. The staff are very helpful, the owners are Welsh and the site has improved each year. We stayed here straight from Cherbourg at the start of our 3 weeks and went back at the end of our trip for Bastille night. When we leave for France again a couple of weeks again we will use it as our first stop with the kids. If you fancy a posh meal , michelin star, look at Le Gambetta ....we have been twice and amazing experience in the evening, you can however do lunch within an hour for a very reasonable amount. This time we also caught the boat across from the campsite and did a trip of just 50 mins on the Loire, very reasonably priced.
If you only want a small trip out, try 20 mins south to montreuil bellay for a look, very pretty. Also 20 mins Fontevraud Abbey, where Richard the Lionhart etc are buried, again well worth a look.

Vannes was so pretty , our first time in Brittany and we also loved the Conleau little area sitting with a beer and looking at the boats. Also on acsi from 29th August .Have a great trip!

Sounds like we'll just have to pay full price for the first night then. I suppose we could stay an extra night at Neufchâtel then arrive at Saumur on 29th, but I've heard the Saturday market is good so don't want to miss it😄

Don't think we can run to Michelin stars but have also been told there's a good steakhouse and a Moroccan restaurant. The boat trips sound splendid. Will also go to Angers, even if we don't stay there - the Cointreu distillery is calling us!

Thanks so much for your info.

The market is great , turn left off the Main Street to find all the food stalls and end up in the big square.

Have emailed and got a reply, 28th €43.65, 29th onwards €23.65. Just shows the savings with the ACSI card. At a saving of €20 per night that's the cost of the card paid for in one night.

Can you not find another cheaper site locally, wendy? It would break my heart to pay 43.65 euro.....

We stayed at Lake Garda one year, they exclude some pitches from the ACSI discount, however we ended up on one for 1 night as they had no spaces. We changed to an ACSI pitch the next day and stayed for 6 nights. When we paid up, the kind lady charged us ACSI price for the whole stay.
Not so at St Jean de Luz. The first night wasn't ACSI discount, but we were charged the full price despite 5 more days stay.

Yes, it's sort of gonna break my heart too... But, I want to be in Saumur for the market on the Saturday, and it's a long drive from Neufchâtel, unless we set off at the crack of dawn(or earlier) on the Saturday morning, which really appeals far less than paying the extra €20 to be honest. Our ferry is on Thursday, staying at Neufchâtel Thursday night, then on to Saumur on Friday, can't be doing with setting up in different places 3 days running, so it looks like the extra €20. But, on the bright side, as the MIL is mainly responsible for the extra cost, she'll probably pay most of the extra €20😁
