Dont know if anyone else has noted this and I am aware that this should go on UK Sites area, but people going to France need to be aware.
Black Horse Farm CCS have changed the routine for arriving late and now all outgoing members (those travelling onwards to France) must arrive by 8pm. They have stopped leaving the barrier card in the glass box. If you are delayed by traffic and are going to be late you need to ring the site asap and before 8pm.
I am not sure if there is a need to have ferry pitches anymore. I have always left home in Somerset late to miss the M25 tea time traffic but that is not an option now. Will this affect anyone else?
Apparently those arriving from France can still arrive later.

Stopped using that site and use Lenacre Farm which is a Caravan club cl which is cheaper at £12 a night. Plenty of room to keep anything that you are towing hitched on as well.
Thanks for the pointer to Lenacre farm Mike ill give that a go this year as after a hard slog driving down from Cheshire all I need is a stop point maybe electric which I believe it has and leave as much ready to go as possible.
I find the rule from Black horse a bit daft If arriving from France you can arrive later but if outgoing you need to be there by 8 or call them How on earth can they work out the difference No tickets anymore to produce, how on earth do they calculate that one. yes im arriving on the 8.45 pm from Calais

Uttoxeter (Race days)
Le Serignan Plage (clothed one) August and Scheveningen on way back
We stayed there last year and that note was on the website but I just paid in advance and rolled up at about 11 pm after our jaunt down from the north west and were on our way again at 7 the following morning.
How will they know if you are arriving on a ferry or just coming down from the north as I was not asked!

Whilst like others I don't quite understand the logic of people arriving from home being restricted to arriving by 8.00pm it is a rule that has been in place for a number of years as has the requirement to pay in advance for one night stopovers. If you arrive before the office closes for the night they will often put you on the main site. Over the years they have moved the barrier back into the site to allow for more easy access to more dedicated ferry pitches.
It was my understanding that this had been in place for quite some time now and like David above, could never understand the reasoning or logic behind this at all.
It is years since we last used that site, but one thing I remember was that there was a rather rude warden there at the time!
We have used Bearsted a few times instead when we needed to stay overnight prior to a morning crossing to France, but these days we cross during the afternoon and spend the first night of our holiday on a French site, which we find is a much better way of doing things!
Stopped even considering using this site after one of the Warders gave the wife a bo!!ocking for having the temerity of putiing the back steadies on the grass!!! (hangable offence ) and for not uncoupling the car from the van when we arrived at 11.30pm.
Wouldn't show his face when I wanted to speak to him.

This used to be a good site for a stop-over
It used to be that if you ordered a meal that you could stop overnight
The new owners took over and now you pay extra - not worth it, there's other places
We use Longfield Farm CL, £10 per night with ehu, near the A2, Tesco, garages, pubs, fish and chip shop. Arrive any time. What's not to like? you do need to book well in advance.
We stayed at black horse farm in June for overnight before ferry Booked and paid for a couple of weeks prior. I explained on the phone that we would.be late. They said that an envelope would be left on the notice board for us. As we made an unexpected quick journey from the north east met one of the wardens as she was leaving envelopes for late arrivals. Both phoning and on meeting the warden I found her friendly and helpful. Sometimes I find that whatever the rules are a friendly phone call can find a compromise

We stayed at BHF a week ago en-route to France and can confirm that due to "security reasons" they do not like arrivals after 8pm and they no longer leave barrier codes in envelopes in the glass case. If you are going to arrive after 8 you must ring them earlier that day and obtain the barrier code ir you will not gain access to the main site and ferry pitches. Not ideal as phond was engaged for over two hours from lunchtime but my wife eventually git thfkugh and obtained the code for our late arrival. Am reviewing optikns for 2016.
We stayed there recently and new wardens are much friendlier, rang through as we were arriving after 8pm and they said it wasn't a problem and gave me the barrier code. Clean and secure place to get a few hours sleep before the next stage of your journey
