I'm hoping I can ask for an area of the site as I have ME and I think it will make the holiday easier if we are near the main facilities (so less walking), but not in a noisy/busy part of site (I may need to sleep during day as well as night). Not too bothered about being near the lakes, though they do look relaxing. :-) I have a 9 and 12 yr old and husband along too.

I'm hoping some of you have been to this campsite and can recommend an area for me?

I wondered if pitches 185 - 195 would be good? I can't work out where toilet blocks are as there doesn't seem to be a key on their map.

Facilities are near the following pitch numbers 1, opp 198 , 56 and 42 they are marked as 3 on camp plan orange squares . Row 1 to 10 was quiet but shady and had oldest facilities block best blocks were opp 198 and 42 , you may get a choice of pitch or may not as we were just given a pitch on our visit and wasn't the best . Your choice is in the open side of the site with less shade or trees   100 to 107 are decent pitches as well .

Might not be the best to answer, as we were there last September, for their last two weeks of their season, so naturally, it was "quiet" anywhere! I can, however, confirm the location of the facilities blocks are as per Wardley's description above.

The Western half of the site (Which includes your "target area" of 185-195) were unavailable, and left empty, purely due to the fact it was their last two weeks, and they could fit everyone in half a site. The facility block opposite pitch 198 was also closed/locked for the same reason. Everything else was up and running as normal, including pool, restaurant, bike hire, launderette etc.

We used the one that "overhangs" the lake, by pitch No 56. My impression is that these are the main ones, with more of everything. And an excellent block it was too. Spotlessly clean, nice big shower cubicles with a "dry area" for hanging clothes/dressing. Also wash basins in cubicles, so plenty of privacy (inc shaving sockets/mirrors etc). Plenty of washing up sinks etc, as well as the WC's, of course.

We were on Pitch 107, and it takes literally one minute to stroll past 107A, turn right on the site roadway, right again, then past just 3 or 4 pitches (36 to 33), and you're there!

The block near pitch 41 was a lot smaller, a little dingy, and more "cob-webby". Only nipped to the loo, on the way out, in the block nearest the reception, by pitch 1. Seemed fine, but again, a lot smaller (less cubicles etc) than the one over the lake.

Oh... we were invited to wander around, and choose any pitch we fancied in the areas that were still open/available, and again, I agree with Wardley... in fact, all those pitches along the Easternmost road, from 97 to 91 (both sides of the roadway) were large and in good nick. I was actually planning to ask for pitch B1 to B4, or 165-169, before being informed this side was closed. We were far from disappointed with pitch 107!
BTW, we had morning sun on there. Those opposite (93B) got the evening sun. As we're overnighting on the way home in our tent (as opposed to hotel) this coming September, not too fussed if our tent is damp when we leave, so we'll be aiming for the evening sun of pitches 93B-91 when we return. (Did I mention it was good enough for us to go back! )

Not sure if you saw this, but this may whet your appetite...

Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

geocachers, we will have left by the time you get there. Hope you have a great time.

Thanks for the tips, sounds like the other side of the site might be better with more shade. I will have a look again at the site map.

The photo's are fab, the loo on the lake looks lovely :-) We've been in the area before, about three years ago, Stayed at Pins Parasol. These pitches look so much much more spacious.

We'll be there mid to late August too.. Originally we were on pitch 168 (which should now be free as we only swapped last week), looks a massive pitch and should get oodles of sun... We've moved to 109, as they had a cancellation, and it's fully serviced... Can cope with some of the day in the shade as a compromise for no Aqua roll lugging for a fortnight
