We are looking to spend the winter in the North Costa Brava area and were looking for sites there or in Perpignan area with winter long term rates. If anyone has pointers for us would appreciate it, am in touring van.
Gracias

There are very few sites open throughout the winter in and around Perpignan. We drove around for ages looking for somewhere. There was one on the main road just outside Le Boulou going towards Argeles - sorry cant remember the name - but they wanted 20 euros a night for camping car. The other was La Mediterranee at St Cyprien Plage which was even more expensive at 26 euros a night.

We ended up at La Florida at Latour bas Elne which is in ACSI book and open throughout the winter. Rates here are 16 a night with a 7 for 6 deal. There were quite a number there but most were staying a few nights to break journey south!!

Cant give you much info about Costa Brava as have not visited sites there but Rosas is lovely as is San Feliu Guixols and I know therev are sites nearby. Im sure other will put up recommendations.
We plan to be in ST Cyprien area for a week or two in late Nov early Dec and will probably stop at the Camping Car Park site at La Bacares as well as Le Florida.
Happy travelling

For better weather you'll need to be further south towards Valencia, the Perpignan/Northern Costa Brava area can have very indifferent weather throughout the winter period..

Welcome to UKCS a airstreamer1!
You can search on here for sites open all year in the South of France, and contact those that come up about their long term rates.
There are quite a few listed, though some are over towards Nice and Cannes, which used to be the winter resorts for the rich and famous!
Any ACSI sites open may do a better long term deal than the ACSI rate, just ask.

We've stayed in early December in the site mentioned at Le Boulu - it's called Les Oliviers. The facilities weren't particularly good and, as others have said, the weather isn't very good either. I don't think any of the Bay of Roses sites are open, as again the weather in the Costa Brava isn't all that good in winter either. (A pity, because it's a nice area!)

If you don't mind going as far south as Barcelona, there's an excellent year-round site at on the coast at Vilanova i la Geltru, called Vilanova Park. Quite a few people spend the whole winter there and the facilities for this are very good. We've been there in December and January and enjoyed it but as Crach says you need to get further south for warm weather, preferably south of Valencia. It all depends what you're going for - there's plenty to see and do in the area if sunbathing isn't your prime aim.

We have friends who live in the area near Perpignan and have visited a lot in the winter over quite a few years. Some years it has been absolutely freezing. One year we had an 'ice storm' which had left the roads like an ice rink, and when we went down to Girona to catch a flight home there was snow in Tossa de Mar. Nowhere was open, apart from one little cafe in Tossa - it just isn't a winter destination.

Better, as everyone says, to go further south and at least have a chance of some better weather.

If you are looking for any reasonable weather then you need to be well down into Spain and even then there is no guarantee that it will be warm all the time. We spend 5 months at La Manga which is a good 100 miles below Benidorm and although we normally get some good days during November and December it turns a bit chilly sometimes in January and February.
It does however get cold in the evenings after 5 pm or when the sun goes down.
Having said all that we did sit outside for Christmas dinner last year and I was playing golf in a T Shirt or whatever they are called during the day.

We spent time in Spain in Jan/Feb this year.   As others have said, it is not really warm until well south of Valencia.    We toured right across to Cadiz and on to Seville.
The most consistent warm dry weather was around the Cabo da Gata area, and west of Gibraltar.

On the way back in Feb there was a lot of snow around Barcelona!

I can vouch for Vilanova park mentioned above. Great park, great area but during the winter months I'd want to be further south for the weather.

Thanks all for the info, we know the area and that as the reason for specifying it, we are going down to work on a boat at Roses for the winter so need to be in striking distance daily. I did try to contact Villanova for information but could not get a reply. I will contact the sites recommended and see how it goes, winter in Costa Brave cannot be any worse than summer in Glasgow

In that case you will probably enjoy it - the weather is unlikely to be worse than the UK, but the scenery will be lovely and the cost of living cheaper! Roses is quite a sizeable town with plenty of shops and restaurants open all year.

Would it be worth considering alternating wild camping for a few nights, with a night or two in a camp site or small hotel, just to make use of the bathrooms and laundry facilities? Loads of folk with camper vans wild camp for the winter in Spain. If you're working on a boat, it might even be possible to camp in the harbour area.

Camping Bassegoda Park is open until the 7th December, and situated near Figueres (Alt Emporda) so may be worth looking at.  It takes Camping Cheques, too, and has some long-stay special offers.  They may know of somewhere local that you can continue camping (friends who live in Spain often have people 'staying' in their garden, unofficially)!
