Heading for Agde in September and contemplating visiting Lake Geneva en route. Shall be crossing using the tunnel, suggestions for routes and stopovers would be very welcome.
Thanks

Lake Geneva isn't really 'on the way' to Agde. It's a separate destination in the opposite direction! You would need more than a stopover. Have a look at a good map, perhaps?
I was just wondering if somebody would reply to that post, Geneva is in Switzerland, Adge is in the south of France, bit of a detour but then again at times I have done the same myself.!!
Why not? We usually take 3 or 4 days to visit different areas on our way to the Costa Brava. Last year we stopped in Geneva. Although it's in Switzerland, it's very close to the border, not much of a detour required. Can't help with stopovers though because we were in hotels.

The direct route via Lyon is an hour or so longer than the route via Paris and the A75. The detour from Macon to Geneva is an hour and a half. Plus the A6/A7 route has the advantage of avoiding Paris. Seems eminently doable to me.
Remind me again what was so funny.
(aitch69 stopovers depend on your travel times, but there's a popular Muni in Macon that's within easy reach if you have an early crossing or have a first stopover an hour or two from Calais).

If you could say what time you are leaving Calais, how far you want to drive in a day, whether you are sight seeing en route and what sort of places and things interest you, or whether you are in a hurry to get to your destination, and also whether you want to stay at Aires or campsites...we might be able to suggest stopovers. Otherwise none of us can help very much.
Or you could just take a good site guide or Aires guide and decide for yourself as you go along. You certainly won't need to book for inland areas along the road. Take care.
How long have you got? If you've got a two week holiday then it would be rather more than a detour to Lake Geneva. However, if you have two months then it would make more sense.
As Berriow says, a little more detail would help. In September, as he says, you won't need to arrange campsites - indeed you may find yourselves the only people there if you use smaller places! We've just had a trip down south, at the end of July, and on one site were just one of five occupied pitches, on a site with sixty-six available!

I'm sorry about my rather brief original reply.
If you do go to Lake Geneva, make sure you don't stray onto the Swiss motorway, or you will need a vignette, which would make it an expensive diversion.
I don't know how big your motorhome is, but if it is more than 3.5t it would be a bit more complicated.
Actually, if I was you, unless you have a reason to visit Lake Geneva, I would go to Lake Annecy, it's so much prettier, with lots of ACSI campsites.
