Hi. Looking at next years holiday already I'm afraid. Idealy we would like a site near Venice. We have a large caravan and car so pitch size is important. The children will be aged 12 and 10 so good pool and facilities needed. Good atmosphere on site and in bar with possibility to walk to other restaurants would be good. Any suggestions guys?

No advice on sites, but when we camped on a mainland site, just outside of Venice, we were bitten to death by midges.
Pack plenty of Skin So Soft, or similar.
Hi, can recommend Marina de Venezia, went there last summer, loads going on site, our kids were teenagers and loved it. True about the midges/mozzies - its all the ditches. Take bikes as site huge and flat area around site, great for biking around. Site on the lido and an easy ferry ride onto venice. If you go, try to time your visit when the fireworks are on - they were fab. Everything on site looked clean and looked after, we hired a static, so didn't use the facilities much, only when desperate between pool and 'van.
We like Ca Savio just past Cavallino on Jesolo side easy ferry to Venice via Punta Sabbione
Huge site on the beach. Town 10 minutes walk cafés etc
Site is expensive in peak months but top quality facilities and services

It depends what sort of site you want. We have stayed at Camping Ca Savio which is a large full facility site which is fine if you want to share the holiday between relaxing and visiting Venice. However our favourite site is Camping Miramare, which we have stayed at three times over the years, it is a 5/10 minute walk to the ferry for San Marco. We tend to spend a lot of time in Venice so that site suits us very well but it does not have the same level of facilities as many other sites in the area.
We stayed at Ca Savio, although it was with Keycamp a few years ago. It's easy to get to Venice by boat from Punta Sabbione, .also boats to Murano and Burano. It is a good site with direct access to a long sandy beach. Each week the site was completely sprayed to keep the Mosquitos under control (a truck with a sprayer drove around spraying into the many trees on site), there was a notice in reception as to the times with advice to take in any clothes and we stayed inside while they passed by our pitch. I still got bitten many times while my husband had no bites!
