Hi everyone,
We're planning our holiday for next year and were looking at taking our van to Spain going by ferry from Portsmouth to Santander.
I know it's more expensive to do this but we will have 3 young children and 2 dogs with us so want to keep driving to a minimum.
Can anyone give any advice on the cheapest way to so this and recommend any good family friendly campsites around there ?
Also what is the weather like around this time of year ?
Many thanks
Maria
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Weather should be pretty good ... in the Picos, being mountain weather, expect the odd rainy day ... but the north coast of Spain is pretty good in July/August.
Family friendly? Depends what you mean ... there are several good sites on the coast ... and inland ... the Picos (notes area) is a must!
Have a look at some of my reviews for the area ... but also check out other sites ... I'm sure you'll get more recommendations.
Cost-wise ... just check out the ferry sites ... not much movement ... just have to bite the bullet.
If you join Brittany Ferries Club Voyage for Spain you get 30% dscount on the ferry cost,it may pay you to check the cost and apply the discount to see if it is worth joinng.
