Has anyone used the ferry booking service from C&CC. I am booking for May 2016 half term (like to have a plan and have nothing planned after October this year ).
I am trying to book the dates online that they have listed in their download but keep getting a message that says 'could not retrieve ferry journeys'.
Will have to phone them I suppose but I wondered if it normally worked.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
I tried direct on DFDS website to book Newhaven/Dieppe crossing and got the same message. I assumed the dates for 2016 aren't bookable yet. As it would let me book later in 2015 if I wanted to.
I've been trying to get online quotes for European breakdown insurance all weekend and the site wasn't working. I've sent a message to the C&CC complaining .

I booked recently through them by phone for our Pooole Cherbourg crossing and it was painless and cheaper. At the kiosk in Poole they said our towbar bike rack need not have been described in the booking as a low trailer so we rang C C C on our return and they will give us a refund. Sometimes I just prefer talking with humans and not online.
I've just booked my July/August 2016 ferries direct with Brittany Ferries. Can't think a second party would be able to offer cheaper, but prices may rise as the dates get closer. Going Plymouth - Roscoff and later Caen - Portsmouth.
I would rather swim across the Channel than use DFDS again, after two nightmare scenarios in different years where ferries booked well in advance were changed so radically as to be useless to us - took the threat of court action before they booked us on other companys' ferries at their expense. Nightmare!
------------- Camping Gear expands so as to fill the space available for its transportation.
The Caravan Club and Alan Rogers (Camping Cheques) offer significant discounts on Brittany Ferries sailings (some dates and times) if they are bought as part of an ITX package with either sites or Camping Cheques. Adding an 'accommodation' bit into the package brings down the total cost by much more than the cost of the accommodation element, making the ferry cheaper overall than it would be for just a ferry alone!
Try it and see if it works with the Caravanning and Camping Club - or if you're a member of the Caravan Club try them.

Well they may not for July/ August but they certainly will for mid June to Mid July. A booking for car + caravan from Plymouth to Roscoff return is £ 60 cheaper from the Caravan Club than from Brittany Ferries themselves,
The Caravan Club won't actually reduce the ferry fare if I include Camping Cheques for those particular dates, but they will sell me seven for an extra £40 and I think I know who will buy them from me for a bit more than that.
Apart from the difficulties booking online we nearly always book our ferries through the C&CC and get a discount of between 5% and 10% though this does depend on the operator/route. I always check what the price is with the ferry company beforehand to make sure that this is the case.
I think I did OK in the end. Booked online, minimal fuss, my campsite then told me they had a discount code - emailed Brittany after the event, 2 mins later they sent me a revised booking confirmation with £50 off.
Not sure why the C&CC booking form needs endless information when Brittany Ferries don't need it direct.
