I'd agree with Trekkin Tekkie - we've stayed at L'Ardechois, and Soleil Plage, and I'd compare the two. My vote would be in favour of L'Ardechois, out of the two, but that was probably because we went there a lot when our children were very small and they loved the site. They loved the river, the organised activities (we were taken to a very special cave which has now become famous) and the entertainment. In those days (too long ago to mention) the children did a weekly show and the days leading up to the show were practice days where they learned circus skills, magic tricks, and so on. My sons thought it was the most brilliant thing they'd ever done (and both still have a lot of 'circus skills' such as juggling, Diablo spinning, plate spinning plates, and can do 'magic' all of which they learned at L'Ardechois! It now comes in very handy on stag nights!
We've been back to both without children, and in low season, and still love them both!

The roads aren't at all scary. If anyone's going to L'Ardechois, or anywhere in the southern part of the Ardeche, then apart from driving along the Gorge de l'Ardeche itself, which you wouldn't do with a caravan, you should be fine.
If anyone is really worried then email me at valdaathome at gmail.com and I'll put you on the right road. We've been down that way many many times over the years, using a variety of routes, and never had a problem, towing and otherwise.
Ranc Davaine which is in the Ardeche at St-Alban-Auriolles has some slides, a water flume, and indoor and outdoor pools. It's also next to the Chassezac river, which is good for 'messing about in' but not quite as good as the river at L'Ardechois. Pitches are 'informal' and set in woodland, so may not be good for a twin axle.
