Hi everyone. We are looking for a site within an hour of Paris for 2 nights this Saturday and Sunday, otherwise it's going to be an F1. We are looking for somewhere with chalets as we don't have the tent with us (as our 16 year old wouldn't have come camping again!) but hopefully this late in the season sites wont be insisting on a full week. Anyone got any ideas - we are currently near LaRochelle and heading back Monday evening on the tunnel. I know it's late notice but we were planning on camping (without the 16 year old) so booked the place we are in at the last minute.
The other question is - my brother reckons it's OK driving into Paris on a Sunday - not that I don't believe him but is he right ! I've never been so I'd like to have a look around but I don't want to be sat in a traffic jam for hours and pay £20 to park for an hour.
Thanks

I was just looking at Camping Indigo Paris which has bungalows and statics.
I would not drive in - a zone 1-3 travel card for Metro, RER, trams and buses was only about €10 for the day last Sunday, - I got an iPhone app for route planning which was free and easy to use.
take your 16 yr olds passport in to Paris as on showing that EU citizen under 25s can go to the top of the Arc de Triomphe for free, €9.95 for adults - some of the best views in Paris.
------------- It's only an expensive hobby when it's parked on your Drive....use it, love it , live it.
I've just left Etangs fleuris which have statics through there own website,or canvas holidays,we drove into Paris on Sunday and parked about 5 minutes from the Eiffel Tower it was free and very little traffic compared to a weekday it took about 45 mins from the site
Try Camping International at Maisons Lafitte - they have all types of accommodation - even tree houses! They may let something at this time of year for a couple of nights.
You can get a train from the station into central Paris for 10 euros (or thereabouts) for a day rover, which you can use on the metro, and buses as well. (or you could when we were there).

Have you looked at the Huttopia site at Rambouillet? They also have one at Versailles but I'm not sure what the accommodation is there.
The site at Rambouillet has a wide variety of wooden huts and is in a forest outside the town but only a 30 minute walk to the local station with lots of trains to Paris (varying between 35 mins and 1 hour to get to Gare Montparnasse). The cost was about €16 return.
It's not cheap but is well-equipped, clean and friendly.
I can promise you that drivbing in Paris on a Sunday is fine, we drove right in last year and parked near to the Eiffle Tower.....the only hairy bit is the round the Arc de Triomphe but even that wasnt too bad.
Hope you have a great time.
Just returned from Camping International at Maisons Lafitte .well run site. we 3 of us caught the train in on Saturday and drove on Sunday, easy with use of Sat nav.
we parked outside the shopping centre closed La Gallery Lafitte, and then onto the Notre dame, and Arch de Triumph.
Enjoy
