there are two places I can think of in Bartcelona, not cheap but!! Park & Ride del Besos, gps N41,41333 E2,22222 open all year, I can't find the other one, perhaps someone will post some , but I would google make sure the place/s are still open, it was more than 5 years ago we stopped there to visit my wife's cousin that lives up the road from Barcelona
Barcelona in a motorhome - I hope you are able to do real hard defensive driving as MH's have been targeted on the Motorways by people trying to force them to stop so they can rob them. Some one tried a funny a few years ago with me and I swerved at them so they tried again and I swerved at them again the third time they tried the Policia had seen what was happening and they charged in and the twonks were last seen standing against their heap with teikr hands behind their backs as the Police held a gun on them and searched their vehicle. I never got bothered again. My advice don't stop, but drive at the beggars.
Its hardly a challenge, Barc is known for a bit of a party city and has its fair share of petty crime. Probably not a good idea to leave a motorhome parked in a backstreet. Best way of seeing Barc is to stop at a campsite along the coast and get the train in. Good rail service along the coast.
The stories about motorway robberies and so on do have a grain of truth but just be sensible, drive during the day and don't stop if some random car points at your tyres and you will be fine.
Have a camera ready ... take pics of them through your window if they try to pull alongside and point at tyres (or anything) ... if they are 'bandidos', they'll scarper.
Beware of pickpockets, too, in the centre of Barcelona. Both times we've been we've witnessed it happening, and one time OH gave chase and caught one of the thieves. The police 'helped' but weren't particularly interested - it all seemed a bit too much of an effort for them.
Keep all valuables well out of reach of very expert thieves!
Apart from that it's a lovely city, and definitely worth visiting.
Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
Our friends returned from barca on Tues was robbed in daylight took bag with passports cards money.said they worse place they ever been in Spain. Never go again.
I've never had friendly young Morocccan women surrounding me, stroking me and trying to lift my phone and wallet at the same time in any other city and if one has to advise one to be careful where one parks ones van the better advice would be not to park it in the city at all.
So yes, Barc is worse than most other cities. The good advice for the motorhomer is to park on campsite down coast, train it in and ensure phone/wallet/passports are in safe zipped pockets not handbags. Ie sensible precautions and then you are ok.
We've been to Barcelona several times, so have our son and daughter on separate occasions, and none of us had any problem with pickpockets. As Billyx says it's no worse than any other major tourist city. We found the dodgiest place was Rome - on the metro a woman carrying a baby had her hand in OH's pocket! He responded by grabbing it and gripping it as hard as he could, and she gave up and got off at the next stop. In Lisbon someone tried to get into my backpack but a passing tram driver shouted a warning.
However a car did try to stop us as we were towing our caravan round the Barcelona ring road. I pointed my camera at them and they scarpered.
I wouldn't be put off going to any interesting city or country - just be prepared, do your homework and be sensible.
The campsite on the outskirts with a bus stop outside is Vilanova Park.
