We were booked on the 17.15 P and O sailing.

Left Troyes around 9.30 and had a traffic free motorway drive up to the port. We stopped at a couple of fairly quiet services on the way. There were queues to passport control andto P and O check in but not too bad. We arrived early at about 15.30 and were glad we did as the dock side was busy.

We boarded on time and had a straight forward crossing. The boat was full and we were glad to be one of the first on board as plenty of people were searching for seats.

Arrived back home up north before midnight.
Then read the news of the poor folk after us who were stuck.

We were also very lucky. Booked on the 18.50 ferry. As we know they put you on the next crossing if late or early were weren't really clock watching. We got into port at 18.00 and went through passport control and check in with 10 minutes before check in closed.

Pulled up on the line about 3 from the top. and ours was the last full line, few other cars in the line next to us. Think we counted about 10 other cars behind us. Got on and it was heaving but we managed to fine a seat in the cafeteria.

No sign of the mess that was to follow while we were waiting to board. Got off the boat at 7.30 ish and a saw the twitter feed from P&O about the blockade.

If we had missed out ferry we would have been loaded on the next, which is the one that got stuck in port, so we were feeling very lucky as if we had been 10 mins later we would have missed check in!

Wow very lucky Dubs!

Passport control was busy. They were really scrutinizing every passport and passenger.

We feel the same, left Clermont Ferrand at 6am rolled up to Calais about 2:30 very early for our 6pm crossing tried getting on an earlier ferry but no luck so just had to wait it out. Then crossing delayed til 630 but did eventually load and board got seated and docked at Dover about 7pm UK time.

Read all the news the next day and felt so lucky - there was about 2 coach loads of school children on our ferry if we'd got stuck it would have been bedlam!
