6 years we've been going to the Vendee. We love it. We switch off, the kids enjoy the beaches and waves, we enjoy the weather, it's not that far to drive from St Malo (especially when we drive from the North West in the UK). It suits some people and not others. We like to set up camp in 1 place for our 2 -3 week holiday. We found beaches we'd never heard of before this year floodlit for surf championship competitions. Overlooked by the most amazing restaurants. We love it. I guess other families that we see most years from the UK, and Netherlands do as well. Yes it rains, but it's nothing like the UK rain, it's still warm :) and happy hour in the rain.... whilst the kids are in the pool.... well we don't do that at home so everyone's happy :) there are still fabulous markets water parks, the most amazing tree top rope climbing go ape type thing (better than any in the uk), lakes, fiestas and fireworks, etc :)
------------- Fab time in France again.... Roll on next year!

We have stayed at LA Guyonniere for 4 of our summer holidays in the past five years and simply haven't been back as we've exhausted the surrounding area when you get the non pool/beach days.
It all depends what you and your family want from a holiday. For us it's a great campsite, a nice beach and a good pool area. We found for us La Guyonniere offered all of this at very reasonable prices. The campsite itself I would say ticked all the boxes. The facilities great and the pitches the most spacious we've ever stayed at. We stayed there for our first camping trip abroad and haven't looked back. Such fond memories,
We have also stayed at Soliel Plage in Dordogne which again, a wonderful site, great pool complex, good sized pitches and the river running a,onesie as an alternative to the beach, we have a fantastic stay there in 2013, and would love to go back, but don't want to risk ruining our lovely fond memories, as part of the pleasure is the new area etc to explore. Maybe in a few yrs time perhaps.
This yr we took to thes sky's and had a wonderful all inclusive week at a hotel in Ibiza, but I still long that campsite experience and next yr is looking like a trip around Switzerland, Austria, Italy (?) Germany and maybe Holland/Belgium.
Love my holidays!
Happy planning 😊

Soleil plage is still my fave site so far in France and we love the Dordogne but weve been 3 times and need to try other areas. We love the Vendee but again we need to try different parts of France. The ferry is a great price for next year with the CC adding 7 camping cheques so we have decided to do the Portsmouth to Caen sail again and go the last 2 weeks in August as the prices are so cheap. We are going to try La Rive which is further South another 200 miles down, but, my Aunt lives in the Vendee so we can stay over at hers for a couple of days to break the journey, she has a huge garden we can pitch our caravan in. So that's where we are going, I cant face a 600 mile trip again! We have also booked 2 weeks all inclusive in Lanzarote for Easter as we want some winter sunshine after our terrible summer.
