Just booked 14 nights (August 2016) in Frejus staying at Domaine du Colombier. Any hints/tips/advice for that part of the world would be appreciated! Me and the wife must be mad taking 4 kids all that way ha!

Well, at least you have plenty of time to anticipate it! Tip? Make the journey part of the whole holiday, not something to be endured, a bit of planning with stops can be worthwhile.
On these grey , cold, mizzle filled days I am dreaming of summer sun. Oh wait, off to Florida next week!!

I haven't seen Francais on here for a little while but given he has, "a fortnight campings in Frejus" most years he must be the expert on that area.

Hopefully he will read this and give you the benefit of his local knowledge.

When staying in Provence and in Var in particular we find this web site invaluable. It has everything from touristy things, bus timetables , fun fairs etc

It's a lovely site,we were there 2 years ago there's a lot of statics and it's busy in August.beaches are about 20 mins away but get there early there's loads of beaches on the road to St tropez just spot one and pull over.theres a supermarket a short walk from the site just turn right and walk up the hill and its on the left.theres also a Aldi and large pricey Carrefour within 15 mins drive.the waterpark is good and there's also a big fairground I think it's called Luna park.loads of resteraunts in fregus on the sea front.the site has everything pools, swings entertainment and a resteraunt which gets a bit hectic.only downside is there's very little within walking distance so if you fancy a night out its a bus there and cab back if you fancy a beer we loved it there and yello village sites are generally pretty good

Alan Rogers Plc said Domaine du Colombier had 20 touring pitches and 363 statics. Has it changed since then?

It's definitely swamped with chalets, the pitches are dotted around, there isn't really a designated camping area,we were in a row that went up a hill towards the pool, probably about 9 pitches where we were,we went in 2013,

Next year will be our third time in a row.. We love the area. Stay overnight at Lyon then only a few hours left to drive. On way home we stay at Dijon. We take the tunnel early morning on way down then book for the afternoon on way home. Have it all planned as we have a 5yr old but he is a good traveller.
We stay at L'Etoile, lovely site and can chose own pitch. All serviced.

We were in Columbier some years ago and there weren't many pitches even then.

The parking at the beaches can be expensive and I don't know if it still is the same but we were advised to try Base Nature which is right in Frejus and not far from the Marina. Huge car park (which was free and don't know if it still is) very near to the beach with a nice bar/restaurant. Its where the French go. Short stroll from the beach into the marina area with its cafe's and restaurants.

The ferry from St Raphael to St Tropez and back is well worth a visit. Take a packed lunch as you don't want to pay St Tropez prices (especially with 4 children).

If you want to see the largest super yachts visit Antibes. Don't know if you can still just walk onto the quays but you used to be able to.

If you want to go to a Hypermarket go very early as the traffic will be horrendous in peak season.

Enjoy the place as its lovely. Couple of photos for you

It's just over 1000 miles from Leeds to Frejus and you have four children with you. Stop every day no later than 4 pm and let them run around, play and swim, while you sit down and have a beer. It's a holiday.

We are now booked to drive down to Frejus, leaving from Bristol. We aim to stop at Dover overnight, drive from Calais in the morning and stop around Macon overnight.
iPads and books only get you so far with the children, and by that time the us adults will be dying for a cold one!

We stay at Folkestone then get on the tunnel just before 7am, have a few quick stops on way down but stay at Lyon overnight. Then set off about 8.30 to Frejus. Done this 3 times now. Our son is fine. Has DVD, iPad etc, he doesn't mind travelling. On way back, we stay overnight at Dijon then have a tunnel crossing about 3-4pm. Tolls with the tag all the way
