We are heading off on a "family gap year" (actually 18 months) around Europe in a caravan. We are mum, dad and 3 kids aged 7, 6 and 1, plus a dog!
We are sailing to Bilbao at beginning of December and heading down to family north of Lisbon in time for Christmas.
I am looking for recommendations for a route and campsites. We are seasoned campers but novice caravanners so are looking for an easy route on major roads!
As it is winter we obviously need campsites that are open all year. If you have any ideas for nice places (we are looking at going via E80 unless anyone has better advice) en route please let me know!
Many thanks

Possible routes on Via Michelin here
Campsites at Burgos, Valladolid and Salamanca .... don't know how well you know those cities ... Burgos has a good cathedral ... but Salamanca is fantastic and well worth a day (or two!) ... the main square (plaza mayor) is considered to be the finest in Spain by many.
The Campsites mentioned by Kelper are ACSI Members which offer a discount in low season but you have to join ACSI for their Camping Card which is good as you normally have the cost of the card back in 3 nights of staying on the campsites with the reduction in the price.
There is also another ACSI Camping Card site at a town called Caceras which if used would give you a nice position to travel East across to Lisbon.
I would also suggest putting some warm clothing in the caravan as your route is quite high across Spain and does get very cold at night!
Hope this helps.

While a little bit further on from Tordesillas is Guadaloupe which is a World Heritage Site and looks good on the pictures posted on Google Earth so has been planned in on our next trip.
