We missed out on a trip to France as we didn't book early enough and the crossings, by the summer, were exorbitant. Having had quick look online, it seems that the prices are similar. Are there any suggestions that DFDS, or any other operator, may have an offer at the next Caravan Show?

Don't think so - DFDS haven't had any "show offers" or even had a stand at the February or October Shows for some time (more than 2 years IIRC), but keep checking the exhibitors list and the ferry/tunnel operators' websites of course.
Cheers, Bob, I'll keep an eye on the list in the link - much appreciated.
I guess we were spoilt. A couple of years ago I managed to get a Portsmouth - Le Havre crossing with cabins both ways for £195 and that was for the end of July and returning mid August.
The only current deals are with the Caravan Club or the Camping and Caravanning Club. They offer to undercut the ferry operators by a small amount, especially on the longer crossings. Even so crossing prices are going up again. Sadly gone are the days of £58.00 return crossings for car and caravan. On the other hand, the euro is now at a better level than it has been for a few years (although not as good as it was during last year) and spending money will go further!
Adding in some Camping Cheques or booking a campsite through the Caravan Club may bring the price down by more than the additional cost of the site/cheques as it converts the fare into an ITX package which offers better discounts. It's worth playing around with the Caravan Club website, once you've decided on dates and times, and comparing prices with the ferry operators and with or without a site or Camping Cheques.
The tunnel offer a frequent traveller scheme, which involves buying 10 crossings for £ 430, I think. This can be shared by two people so if you can split 5 return crossings with someone else it mught be worth looking at. There are supplements, but I still think it might save some money. Of course that is if they can operate without migrants causing disruptions.

Val A is right that caravan club is cheapest doing it with 3 camping cheques, but you can't do it on line ,as Val says sort out crossings first through ferry companys web site finding cheapest crossings then phone caravan club for booking,I dont think you have to be a member of club although if you are you may get a further discount ,perhaps someone can confirm this?
Also we didnt book all our camping cheques via club we bought them online and had them loaded onto our silver camping cheque card through the french camping cheque site as they are quite a bit cheaper because of the exchange rate,It will bring the price down from 14.95 a cheque to aprox at todays rate of 1.34 to £11.06.plus an admin fee of 6 euros,so best to do it in one transaction whilst abroad.
