Anyone been to this area? Finally settled on Camping Klagenfurt am Wothersee. Not found very much out there about the place, and what there is comes mostly from Dutch campers via Zoover.
Any advice getting there etc.etc. Thinking of a long drive to Munich in about 12 hours from Calais follwed by 2 nights there in a hotel, then the rest of the drive and 10 nights camping.
Cheers
Bill

When you planning on visiting Bill - avoid the end of June as it's Ironman Austria and the place will be rammed -unless you are like me and doing the Ironman

The Worthersee is a wonderful area have been visiting there for over 30 years with or without the caravan.
But for Campsites I recommend the other See nearby Ossiachersee. Much quieter and only a few miles from the Worthersee plus the other Sees of Weisensee and Millstattersee. The whole area of Karnten is beautiful and pristine. The Austrians are the most friendly people and helpful most speaking English. Cost of fuel is the cheapest in Europe after Luxembourg plus food is cheapest after Germany.
You must visit and go to the top of the Pyramidinkogel Here is a wonderful experience. If you want to know anything else about the area email me dvphillips14 at o2.co.uk

Yes the Worthersee and Ossiachersee are warm lakes too.
We had a friend who lived near Klagenfurt who was stationed there during the war and married an Austrian lady too. Sadly he died last year at 89 years old we never met his wife but have his daughter, granddaughter and great granddaughter.
You will find things a bit different now magnolia on Sundays lots of gift shops are open and supermarkets in tourist area's and around the Lakes in Aausria.
Anyone know of any other good sites near to this area? Looks like Camping Klagenfurt is already full for our dates! There is an 80m2 pitch available, but our tent is 7.5m by 3m, and I'm wondering if this would be a squash?

All worked out ok in the end. Camping Klagenfurt have a nice large pitch available on slightly different dates, so it's 11 nights in Austria for us this year! Thanks everyone for their help.
Now, to plan the route!!!!
