Could this be just me, but I have been trying to book Newhaven - Dieppe going out June and returning July, but the website just keeps reverting to Dover - Calais.
I can't see the Newhaven crossing being fully booked already, or maybe it is ?
Edit = just read that DFDS are no longer running the crossing from Jan 1st 2016, and that the vessels are to be re-branded, although the report said that DFDS would still be handling bookings.

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
You appear to be able to book the route car only for £98 ret but booking don't work with car/trailer as you have found. From this, DFDS do appear to be running the service.
As far as I know the business and the ships are still owned by the French Transmanche company and the local authority for the Seine Maritime departement - as is Newhaven port too. A commercial arrangement for DFDS to continue to market and operate the service for them has recently been renewed. But re-branding ? No idea, sorry.

I booked a crossing from Dieppe to Newhaven for august, at lunchtime today. As I was booking 2 vehicles I did it by phone instead of online (same price). I spoke with the C&CC as well about booking through them. They said that there had been discussions with the French authorities as to whether DFDS were able to continue operating the Newhaven - Dieppe route and this had been granted up to the end of November.
I've just tried to make a test booking and it was fine.
You have to fill in basic details of dates, number of passengers and choose 'car' on the first page here then press 'book now'.
This takes you to the second page where you choose the specific outbound and return crossing then add the trailer in the second portion of the page under this headed in red 'Not found what you are looking for? Then search again' before pressing 'continue'.
It's not the most intuitive user friendly booking system I've come across though. :-(

Thanks all, works out at £239 for Car+Trailer out June return July.
Although £123 more than Dover-Dunkerque, I am not dismissing it straight away, even for heading down to the Cote d Azur from Manchester, Newhaven-Dieppe could still be the better option, as it's not always just about the money!
We used it last year Francais purely as it gave us a nice 5am start on French side after about 4 hours sleep in a cabin on way out, so we got a long way down before stopping off for night early/mid afternoon so could have a nice chill and relax
Apparently some quiet lounges available but with two kids was easier to get 4 bedded cabin (take ear plugs as you will hear car alarms going off!)
Won't use this year as heading east when hitting France but would certainly use in future as about same distance as Dover for us
