We went to Argeles in August, I don't want to put you off but we ending up cutting our stay short and went up to stop at Avignon! It was too hot for my toddler (not a well planned holiday on our part) and the campsite we were on had noise coming from another campsite next door until 2-3 in the morning! Safe to say we were all hot, tired and grumpy so after a week or so decided to give up and move on!
We felt very hemmed in on our pitch as it was very busy and very packed in. It wasn't a site that anyone has mentioned on here so far though.
It would probably be different now as my son is now 10 nearly 11 and quite able to do his own thing and not too bothered by the heat.
It has put us off that area and put us off holidaying mid August, so we either go in May (and he misses a week of school bad mummy!) or end of August now depending how the School holidays fall.

Yep, Bossynix, +45DegC some days when we were at Frejus last July, we just love it when it is that hot, of course with temps that high, all you can do is languish in the swimming pool for a few hours, even a car ride to the beach can be to much of an effort.
After having a great 10 days there last year, we are going back this year to Le Dauphin. The site is about half an hour's walk to the beach, or there is a free bus from the site a few times per day. The site is lovely, nice pool with loads of space around it, and the pitches are a good size - we have one with the private bathroom which is fab.
Thanks all, made notes. val, bus timetable perfect . Have friend staying in Banyuls Sur Mer so it was an option to go and visit, I have found a municipal actually there so that may be an option too

If you go to Banyuls, check out the Sentier sous Marine Banyuls Cerbere - a walk/snorkel along a trail, with genuine old relics such as amphorae, plus fish and other marine life. You may even be able to 'whale spot'. When we were last in France we heard a French radio programme about the whale watching from Cap Bear just along the coast and intend to check it out next visit.
