We are 2 families with kids under the age of 8, looking for a fab campsite with a great pool, slides etc and a spacious pitch for our tents.
We want to be in southern France; anywhere with decent weather.
Not a beach site, inland is fine.
And somewhere where we can eat great food!
We would drive from Calais and could do an overnight stop somewhere.
In the past we have been to the Vendee, which is great but weather was iffy and it's not so pretty, and the Loire.
Your ideas please! I'd be most grateful!
Thanks
Kate

Kate, when are you going? And when you talk about Southern France, how far south do you mean. Some people immediately think of the Mediterranean, others think that the Dordogne is Southern France.
Sites as you describe book up pretty quickly, even in inland southern France. The dates will make all the difference as if you're planning on late July/early August I think the possibility of getting two big pitches on a site with super pools is unlikely for this year. If it's later (last two weeks in August) you will have more chance. If it's earlier (Spring Bank Holiday for instance) then you'll have no problems at all.
If you can 'narrow down' dates and areas it will help.
Val - thanks for replying!
We are going 21 July, and depending on availability we would stay for a week or 2.
Southern France - anyway south of dordogne, we like sunshine and warmth!
We have stayed on a Castel chain site before (expensive) and RCN (great site in Vendee, recommended by people on this forum!) and small independents and we have never been south of here, so we'd like to try a new area and see a bit more of La France - plus i speak French.
Our kids love swimming and playing! So if we could get a site with a pool and a slide they would be v happy.
Although..i wouldn't mind a more natural lake/river as we have a new dinghy!
Broad, I know...but up for ideas.
THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR SUGGESTIONS!

Try Camping L'Etoile D'Argens. It's quite close to the beach - in fact there is a boat that runs from the site to the beach and regularly - 'free of charge'. It's not a cheap site (in fact the opposite), but the swimming pool complex is brilliant and lots to do for teenagers. Some of the pitches are really very large, but it may be a little late to book. They get booked up very quickly.
