Stayed at Le Clarys Plage when we first started camping in France about 25 years ago with Eurocamp ... subsequently returned with own kit a few years later. Great location close to a fab stretch of beach! Even then site had great pool complex and a fine bar and kids stuff. The whole area was very busy as there are loads of campsites in the vicinity between St Jean de Monts and St Gilles Croix de Vie. Pretty sure there is a takeaway on site but not sure about a restaurant ... always used to be a few restaurants nearby (by my info is well out of date!)

Camped as a couple for several years now so we don't look for or want anything as busy these days!

Hi Jellydust. You may want to look at Camping LaYole at St Jean de Mont. My daughter (with caravan & 3 kids) has been going there for the past 10 years. We went with them,in our caravan, in 2014 & 2015.They have different types of accommodation ie Chalets, static vans and tents which can be booked on-line. There is everything you need onsite (incl bike hire) and is geared up for kids.
There is a SuperU supermarket at 15mins walk with various shops/takeaways. Further afield is Lidl and other big supermarkets. You will need the car to go into St Jean, although it is do-able on bikes. The beaches are fantastic but you will need the car.

You might find this video interesting, Camping Street View it was filmed in 2013 so does not show the glamping tents, but does give you a good idea of the site,

Hi,
With 4 kids it is hard to beat Camping Interlude on The Ile De Ré,
I has a a child friendly pool area with activities and is located next to a large sandy beach.
There is also lots of traffic free cycle paths - cycling really is the transport method of choice on the island.
I can get a bit Surrey on Sea in the school holidays but the upside to that is the children will make lots of friends.
There is a €15 toll bridge to cross to the island from La Rochelle but you can cycle across (for Free) and all the way into old La Rochelle along cycle paths.
If the weather is good it is in my view the perfect holiday location for a family with under tens.

Les Ecureils at St Hilaire de Riez is great...not huge, good pool complex, great playground, beach across the road, mini golf down the road...hard to beat for a first time site...we've been a few times...everything you need is right there.

Hi
You book Interlude directly via their web site.
There is a free bus service from the site to the market in the village which is useful - also only a couple of miles drive to 2 very big supermarkets.
