Another vote for Le Rozier/Peyreleau in the Tarn gorge also. Lovely at sunset.
The campsite at Lyon la Foret is really nice too, small, but good showers etc., and a pool next door.
I felt like the Pied Piper there - - I was sat playing my guitar one afternoon and within minutes I think every child on the site was sitting on the grass on the empty pitch next to ours.
really enjoyed visiting chinon a few years back lovely little town. and as a child have very fond memories of visiting carcasonne incredibke place despie the overly touristic feel.
and was pleased to see the op two reccommended places being more or less the same as the two weeks i have booked this year! staying at a yelloh site in st emillion an then a week 20 mkns from amboise!
even more excited now!

Stayed in a lovely place last year called murol, it's not far from clermont ferrand. It' had a lovely lake and all the hills in the background, it was lovely
