We stayed at the Guignicourt one also (and probably will this year on way home from B/Forest) - nice site big pitches and shortish drive to Laon if you wish and as said just park at top. Not a lot aside from Cathedral as we walked around the town.

Obviously a few champagne houses worth a visit in local area if that is your thing?

Champagne is always worth investigating although I usually manage with something more economical.
