Hello
Just finalising plans for trip to Northern France.
As our first trip we are trying to keep it simple and staying at three sites between Roscoff and cherbourg. It's over 12 days so we have limited time.
The first site is near Morlaix.
We would very much like to visit the Cote de Granit Rose - Perros Guirec is about 40 minutes from the site.
We're not sure whether to do a day trip out from the campsite or doing a nights hotel stopover in Perros Guirec to get a bit more time on our way down to our next stop at Mont St Michel.
Would appreciate views from other people who have visited this region - on the best bits to see of that area of coast in order to get a good taster.
Best regards

Are you committed to Morlaix? A day's drive from there is easy enough but if you want to see the Granit Rose coast could you go instead to a campsite there? Camping Tourony at Tregastel comes to mind, but there are others in the heart of that area.
We really like the look of the site near Morlaix and want to visit Huelgoat and various other sites around there.
The campsite you suggest looks great thank you - I'll definately hold that thought if not for this trip then another.
However since we are tent camping and it would only be a night stopover it may be more sensible to stop at a B&B or Hotel this time round. By stopping over we'd gain half to 3/4 day sightseeing.
Once we locate the best areas of the coast to see then we can work out how best to fit it in and whether its worth one less night at the camp near Morlaix.

The Sentier des Douaniers (customs officers path) is a lovely walk, taking in the weird rock formations which all have names. Good fun for kids of any age! It starts at Trestraou beach in Perros Guirec and the round trip is about 4 miles. It's quite a few years since we were there but it won't have changed much, if at all!

Great tip thanks, sounds spectacular - ideal for us and doable in a day or during a stopover... I will google this.
Having thought again, Bierriows suggested campsite would be an ideal base and with a smallish tent maybe not so much hassle for a couple of nights. Enquired with site but they don't reserve for short stays which is a shame and I would be concerned about not getting a space.. Is the region busy Mid to end August?
Sorry for all the questions, first trip in France for us!

I would certainly give Morlaix a miss, not impressed at all, commercial with no style whatsoever. Perros is great and round about to right or left offers plenty to do. Merits a week easy. Better area to stay, and there is a site at Port l'Epine, but mid August it is busy, and booking may be essential. There is a Municipal on the beach at Port l'Epine which is basic, but may have space for a small tent.

I may book Le Ranolien in Perros Guirec after reading this thread. We were thinking of tagging a couple of extra days in Northern Brittany at the end of our sumer holiday.

We found Morlaix to be a very pleasant town - well worth a day trip. Good job we don't all like the same things !!
There is a nice site at Baie de Terenez at Plouzech (about 10 miles to the north of Morlaix) which takes the ACSI card if you are outside of high season.
But we think the absolute best site in the area of the Pink Granite Coast is Plages de Beg Leguer, which is 5 miles or so west of Lannion. There are very large pitches and good toilet/shower facilities and an excellent childrens'/teenagers', play area. The owner is a charming Frenchman who speaks excellent English and makes everyone feel very welcome. It is one of our favourite sites in France and it takes the ACSI card. What's not to like !
We're sticking to the site near Morlaix for first 3 nights as we love the look of the site and reviews for its family friendliness. Would like to visit Huelgoat which is within half hour of the site too, so it works for us.
I think we may not pre-book the middle 4 nights of our holiday to allow flexibility once we're there to decide how we split our time between Cote de Grantite Rose and the site near Mont St Michel.
Your site suggestions are all great and have been noted! Fingers crossed there will be no problem getting a pitch!
thank you!
