As we are in France during June-July when the

football is on, I looked up the cities where the games are on!
Paris,Bordeaux,Marseilles,Nice,Lens,Lyon,Lille and Toulose.
This could lead to some sites nearby possibly being booked up?
As France is a big place we will avoid these areas, as we don't do football!

I expect that the

overpaid underachievers from England will be returning quite quickly!

Since the 4 best 3rd placed group teams go through, England will almost certainly get through to the first knockout round on June 25 - 27 and will likely play either a 3rd place team or the runner up from group F (probably Iceland) - so they should progress at least to the quarter finals on June 30 - Jul 3.

We had already planned our trip before I thought to look at the football schedules. (We don't do football either). We arrive in France on the 8th June and leave on the 6th July - it could hardly have been worse. Still, I guess the "up country" sites might be quieter, although we have planned on going to Provence.

We very much do football and have the whole trip planned. We are heading to Nice and have tickets to two matches there. We were selected from the draw online..cant wait!

For those of you not into football you may be in for a suprise, the French take Football very seriously doesn't matter where you are in France you will know that euro 2016 is on. We were in france when they held the world cup and also when they held the Rugby world cup and on nearly every camp site you could watch the football/rugby and most sites had something on to do with it.

Just hope France don't lose because the next day they will be a lot of very unhappy walking around the sites.

I'm not a fan either but I will be in Bordeaux to soak up the atmosphere.Bdx is a lovely city and a young population with a laid back vibe.
The building boom at Bdx lac,Bacalan and Bassin de flot prove Bdx is the place to be.Don't avoid Bdx just because of a couple of football games.

I would not avoid a city because of the football. I was wary of being unable to find a campsite place, as we tend not to book! Might stay away on match days because of crowds/traffic etc.
It is a big place with plenty of sites though.

We have been in France when the world cup was on, the sites with bars/restaurants usually had the tv on for those that want to watch.
