How can a dog overheat on a Dover to Calais ferry? Is it very hot on the car deck. We are taking our little Bichon next month, now you have me worried. Should we leave her in the car or caravan?
It's a wet morning in Brittany but I'm just glad I'm not walking a dog in the rain and then having a wet animal shaking itself dry in the caravan or motorhome or tent. Good luck to all you dog owners on a morning like this.

Looking at going to France with the van, we live in Yorkshire and have a dog we would like to take with us but are not sure about the kennels on the ferry, wondered what other people do with their dogs?
On the overnight ferry to St Malo we took the dogs out of the car and put them into the caravan. They seemed quite happy with this and no accidental mess the next day. On the day we were departing, we only gave them a little bit to eat in the morningas the ferry was late evening. In the caravan we left them with some biscuits and water.

It's a very hot day, here in the Ardeche, 37 degrees.
If your dog is happy in the heat then fine, but it can get REALLY hot over here and not every pitch has shade! Fortunately our's does.
Take our GS with us each year and the Tunnel is definitely the best option.
Tesco vouchers pay for us and van and car but don't cover the cost of the dog so all in it cost us £36 return
Whatever you decide its definitely worth taking them even though ours has a heavy coat there are so many lakes and rivers a cooling dip is never far off and she copes so well in fact I think she really enjoys it...
