I'm retiring in January and am considering taking our van abroad for some winter sun. I'm an ex european truck driver and have had my van in France a number of times( never in the south) so am familiar with "foreign" travel. What I would like to know If im to follow the sun in the winter to Spain or the Algarve. Can anyone recommend a campsite that wouldnt cost the earth , we dont have a need for nightlife discos bars ect. Just a good clean site.

Don't forget to leave a review of the French and other European campsites you have visited!
I've been looking a bit at this recently and most advice seems to be to head south of Valencia to get good Winter weather. If you search on Google there are deals to be had for monthly site fees too.
My advice would be not to commit yourself to a long stay on a site unless you are absolutely sure. We toured down the coast in spring a couple of years ago and stayed in one or two sites which promote themselves as suitable for long winter stays. Some of them were just about OK for a night and perhaps in pleasant enough areas, but we wouldn't have wanted to stay for long.
