We would like to spend the last couple of days of our holiday this August dragging the offspring round Paris. We're not interested in being near Disneyland (they're too old for that)but would like a site that's next to a short bus/train ride in to the centre. A clean, basic site will suffice no pools or entertainment are required, although wi-fi would be good. Any suggestions? Thanks.

The map on Campsite Search on here shows you the five possibilities closest to Central Paris. - four good sites and one dreadful. The reviews say it all.
Thank you Berriow. I've had a peep. I like the look of Le Beau Village de Paris at Villiers Sur Orge. Can anyone give me a rough estimate of what the train fare into the centre of Paris is likely to be? Having never caught the train in France I haven't a clue. Thanks.
There's a campsite in Versailles that's very handy for the RER railway station.
One way it's 4E20 to Paris, it won't be double for a return trip. Don't buy an all day pass for zones 1-5 as Iit works out very expensive. When you get to zone 1, you can purchase a book of 15 tickets for a little over 13 euros. These work as one trip = 1 ticket and you can share the 15 tickets between your family. these will get you everywhere you need to go in Paris. I really recommend using your tesco tokens to purchase montparnasse tickets as the views from the top are stunning, both during the day and at night.
If you want to visit the catacombs, book online before you visit, even two days before as the queues on the day are hours long, with a pre booked ticket, you walk past the queue.
Cafe petit pont overlooking Norte dame is great and good value at happy hour, and from there, turn left and enter the Latin quarter and you'll be spoilt for choice for good value places to eat for lunch and supper. Plus the RER C line back to Versaillees isn't far away.

Hi there. There is a campsite in Paris. My wife and I stayed there 2 years ago( we were in a camper) it is in a perfect spot. They have a shuttle bus to the nearest metro that also picks up, or there is a local bus just down the road. The staff were really friendly and helpful to us. We stayed b ere for 3 nights. You can also go for a walk along the Seine. If your into racing ( horse) there's a race track a ross the road. Very famous one. There are negative reviews but we always try to make our own judgment about campsites. We are going back this year in September. Anyway your going to love Paris no matter where you stay.
