We are off to Camping les Peupliers in Riviere dur Tarn and looking forward to a bit of kayaking.
I have two inflatable Sevylor Tahiti Plus kayaks and wondered if anyone who knows the area well can say whether they are suitable for the Tarn in August.
We will do a trip or two in the proper kayaks you can rent, but on the other days just wondered whether these will be suitable. Was planning on driving a little down the river, cycling home, and then spending the day paddling to my car to drive home.
Just don't want to cart all the gear down there only to find out the river is too choppy.

We've used our Gumotex inflatable on the Tarn at Riviere with no problems, but of course this depends on the water levels from year to year. Sometimes there has been plenty of water in the river, sometimes less, so take care. There are areas of rapids and shallows where you might have to get out and carry the canoe.
We have used ours on the trip from the campsite - taken upriver by bus, and canoed from Les Vignes back to the site. Take plenty of water, and a picnic, and choose from any of the lovely beaches to stop for lunch.

We went there in 2010 and enjoyed our stay, reviewed on here. Have been to the Tarn area several times in August and from memory you are likely to need to portage around the shallows, but there will be plenty of long navigable sections.
