Mick, if you use viaMichelin to map your journey it will tell you fairly accurately any tolls. Rouen to Le Mans shows 25.70 tolls on the A28 or 6.10 tolls using the N12 then A28.
It also shows the total cost, obviously the motorway will be a bit cheaper fuel wise.

The A 28 is reputed to be one of the most expensive toll roads. A motor home is class 2 based on height. My inclination would be to leave Rouen by A13 then get onto the N13 Asap via Lisieux, Caen to Rennes via A 84 toll free, then N137 to Nantes. Cheaper, and very decent roads.

there's one amazing roundabout on the route from rouen to nantes; it's full of plastic cows that are so life like every time I saw them I thought they'd escaped from a nearby field.

You could always use the old N38, now re-numbered. In a lot of places it runs next to the A28.
The stretch from Rouen is, I think the D138 & it then becomes the D438. If you are happy driving through/round towns with roundabouts, traffic lights and speed limits rather than putting the MH in cruise on he motorway this might be a good road for you. At least you will have different things to look at rather than soulless motorway bankings.

Mick, the road from Rennes to Nantes is toll free and all roads in Brittany west of that are toll free too.
