Tonights sailing to Saint Malo is not very well populated with caravans. But we have all been crushed into one section where vans are touching and tempers are getting heated.
Done this route many times, never seen it as bad as this , inches between units if your lucky.Be interesting in the morning to see who moves first

Hope you managed to get off alright Bungle! I remember that on the longer crossings there always seemed to be less space between cars and caravans than on the short crossings via Dover!

All was fine in the end the deck hands did a very good job getting us out, they had put padding berween the two vans that were virtualy touching.
The problem was, there were only about 20 vans and an Aitstream motor home(never seen one of those before)
And they bunched us all in the same area. So 4 abreast and nowhere to go,some of the older people were really struggling to get out.
Just finished setting up at La Tranche sur mer in the rain.

I'd be one of the ones losing my temper if we had to park our unit so close to somebody elses that they were touching!

I hope you all got off the ferry this morning safely and unscathed.

It was a route we were thinking about taking for next year, as it will save us 6 days in total. Perhaps we'll stick to the tunnel instead and go for longer

Its the first time we've had a problem and more noticeable because there were so few caravans.
We make the ferry part of the holiday, park up and straight in the restaurant for a nice nights sleep in a cabin and a cooked breakfast to start the day.
The cost is worrh it for the bonus of not going to Dover to drive all the way back again on the other side.
Anyway I'm content now, just cooked a rib eye on the cadac, washed down with a nice red and the sun has come out.(dont know for how long)
